Gilmore at the Ninth

John Gilmore had his day in court.

Oral arguments in the case of Gilmore v. Gonzalez were heard on the 8th of December 2005 by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. James Harrison represented John Gilmore. The US government's position argued by DOJ attorney Joshua Waldman.

Each side had twenty minutes before the Court: a decision is expected some time in the coming few months.

John's supporters packed the court to watch this historic case: at stake is nothing less than the right of all Americans to travel freely in their own country without 'papers.'

John would like to thank all of his many friends and supporters who have called, written and spoken out in support of the Freedom to Travel. It is always good to know that there are others who care as much as he does about the US Constitution.
