You do realize that “The Onion” is a satire-news website, right? The story is completly fictional and is a satire on the type of things you state you are trying to prevent. Please label the article as such, while unfortunately some people believe anything they read without double checking the facts. To do otherwise does a disservice to your cause.
Did you read the article? No one could possibly misinterpret it as a legitimate investigatory article. It’s written about cryptographers, all of whose quotes are rendered in code!
Just a hint, but I think they know that. Have you read the article in question? There is no way it can be interpreted as anything other than humour. Get a grip already.
